The Delft Big Band raises much needed funds in two ways. The first, and preferable one, is by performing at paid gigs. However, the number of live performances is still a long way from where it deserves to be, due mainly to a lack of awareness of the very high standard of performance of the musicians. Having said that, the number of corporate gigs and festival performances continues to grow, providing a rich source of testimonials, as well as a source of income for band members.
To keep the band going, funds are needed to pay teachers, repair instruments, buy sheet music, pay for transport, and so on. Donors, both individual and corporate, have stepped forward to contribute, and the list is growing. But we are still a long way off the target we have set in order to achieve our goals. In terms of process, the band is managed by a ” not for profit ” company, and its annual accounts are audited. In addition, there is a board of directors who have a fiduciary duty to ensure that all financial transactions are above board, and conducted according to the highest standards of integrity.
No donation is too big or too small. If you are able to help in any way, please contact us. You would be assisting in the realisation of a dream that started eight short years ago. The success of the band, in terms of performance standards, speaks for itself.
In order to maintain momentum, a feeder band was launched in 2015, so that there is a steady stream of aspirant musicians ready to step into the shoes of those who will eventually graduate from the band.
Some members of the band are already reaping the fruits of their commitment, by being employed as professional musicians, and music teachers. But more still needs to be done. Please. Help if you are able to.
